Starry Night Cinema is the outdoor cinema arm of End Credits Film Club - a not for profit film club dedicated to developing independent screen culture in Cairns since 1999. In the past 20 years, we have screened hundreds of films for the community, corporate clients and local government in a range of locations. Our regular venue at Cairns Botanic Gardens is a fundraiser for both the End Credits Film Club and The Friends of Botanic Gardens.
Event management, production services, and business development is supplied by Paul Barron from
"End Credits Film Club was founded in September 1999 at the Palace Cinema. We had our last screening when we screened Funnybones. We then selected films for one-off screenings at BCC Grafton Street until CoCA opened.
Starry Night was trialed in Oct 2000 with The Third Man, which was washed out of the Gardens and screened in Tank 3. The idea was developed by Emma and Steve Stanley and Loftus and Shirley Overend (both Gallery and Gardens committees) The first full Starry season was in 2001." (Brynn Mathews founding member)
End Credits Film Club is dedicated to sourcing and screening quality films for its members and the general public. It is run by a committee of local volunteers.
